Einstein said, “the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.” I spent many years of my life doing just that.

I kept striving for perfection, only to fall into a downward spiral of stress, anxiety, exhaustion, and negative self-talk. I believed that if I did everything right, I’d eventually feel like I was enough. My type-A personality fed into that perfectionism, as I struggled to control every detail of my career and personal life. 

Then, a string of tragedies taught me that control was merely an illusion. My first marriage ended in divorce, I lost my second husband to colon cancer, and Hurricane Sandy rendered me homeless.
