Grit and Grace Meditation - Cheryl Bailey

A Gratitude Prayer

Author, Melody Beattie, tells us that Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos to order, confusion to clarity. It can turn a meal into a feast, a house into a home, a stranger into a friend. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today, and creates a vision for tomorrow.

Each of us has the ability to cultivate gratitude for even the smallest or simplest of things in life. Science shows us that if we practice gratitude on a daily basis it not only changes the physical chemistry within us, but it allows us to feel more love, compassion, and joy.  All of which could be sprinkled within today’s world.

We can take something as simple as expressing gratitude for our breath…our breath that is your sustaining life force. The breath that helps us flow through our days and creates space in life.  I invite you to take a moment and silently express gratitude for whatever or whoever shows up in your mind...like popcorn, just keep listing things you are grateful for.  Take a full minute.  Then take a long, slow, deep breath in...filling up your lungs completely, and then a long exhale out. What a great way to begin your day!  Namaste!
